Stanislav Dimitrov Marashki was born on 29th January 1961. He lives and works in Bourgas City. His academic major/degree program is French Philology, as he has graduated from Saint Cyril and Saint Methodius University of Veliko Turnovo. He has authored the famous books entitled: „Laughter under the Mask”, „People of gods” and „Book in the Form of Rectangle”,of the comedy „Perpetual motion in bar „Alive“, as well as a great number of poems, verses, stories, tales, anecdotes and feuilletons published lavishly in Bulgarian periodicals. Herein, one should mention the newspapers entitled: „Словото днес/The Word Today” , „Студентска трибуна/The Student Tribune newspaper”, „Стършел/The Gadfly newspaper”, „Вестник за дома/The Newspaper about Home” , „The Teachers’ Deed newspaper”, „Азбуки/The Alphabet newspaper”, the newspaper named „We, the Women”, вестник „Квантов преход/The Quantum Phase Transition” newspaper, „Родово имение/The Family Estate newspaper”,”Жажда/The Thirst Magazine”,„Черноморски фар/The Black Sea Lighthouse newspaper”,„Народна армия/The People’s Army newspaper”,”Воин/The Warrior newspaper” , the collection entitled: „The Sea Loves only the Living”, the anthology entitled: „Under the Rays of the Sun”, the newspaper entitled:„Forbidden for Men”, the almanac entitled„Yantra”, the website named„Knigi new”, the almanac entitled „Cultural Palette” , the anthologies of the Union of Free Writers in Bulgaria and his noteworthy literary works have been published in more than thirty other newspapers and magazines. He has worked in “The Student Tribune newspaper”, the Municipal Television of Karnobat, as a deputy-editor in chief of the newspaper named „Forbidden for Men”, but he has also worked as an editor in the “Sungularska Valley” newspaper, as an editor and a translator in the electronic Bulgarian-French BulgariЯ Magazine, a presenter of the rubric entitled:„Literary Concert” in the newspaper named „Bourgas Today and Tomorrow”, a teacher of French language and literature and so on. He is a member of the editorial boards of the literary magazine named „Жажд/Thirst” and until recently of the regional magazine about literature, art and culture entitled:„ЛИК/IMAGE”, being distributed on the territory of the towns Sliven, Yambol and Bourgas. As a television journalist, Marahski is the author of a series of authorial films, among which „From the Wine of the Autumn” , „To Make Dreams Come True”, „Impossible Separation” and others. In these films, Marashki goes beyond the framework and limits of standard journalism and makes films of a high/great artistic and documentary value. He is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists, a Chairman of the Confederation of Bulgarian Writers, a member of the Council of Professional Writers at Bourgas Municipality and and a deputy chairman of the Bourgas Club for Humor and Satire named „Sea Urchins”.
In 1980, the Bulgarian National Television broadcast the film entitled „Verses in Holidays”, created by means of the script of Ina Zasheva and the poems of Stanislav Marashki, in which he continues the best traditions in the Bulgarian military lyrics. Against the background of the intact nature of the Strandja mountain, poems are voiced, which are like music coming from the grand piano in a Gothic cathedral. The prevalent intonation in the literary works of Stanislav Marashki is the humorous one, but he creates synthetic works of literature in which the humor and the lyrics co-exist in complete harmony. The above-named author combines in the best possible way journalism with publicism and literary criticism,as it becomes obvious from his numerous publications in the press. Some of his articles on cultural issues written from the viewpoint of a publicist have been strongly influenced by the public attitudes and opinions in favor of one or another trend in the spiritual life of Bourgas, where the above-mentioned writer resides. It was noted by Bourgas community and Marashki got the honorary sign of Bourgas. In his motivation about the award, the Mayor of Bourgas Municipality stipulated also the merit of Marashki for the popularization of Bourgas writers abroad, as well as his contribution to the development of Bulgarian humor and satire. This well-known fact opens up a new chapter in the creative and professional life of Stanislav Marashki – namely, his translations in French of Bulgarian writers. As a translator and an editor in the electronic Bulgarian-French magazine named BulgariЯ the satirist from Bourgas, literary critic and translator from French Stanislav Marashki has translated the intellectual works of many Bulgarian writers and poets, among whom Mihail Veshim, Vesel Tsankov, Boris Arnaudov, Sergey Traykov, Jordan Popov, Rumen Belchev, Violeta Stanislavova, Rumen Balabanov, Roza Maximova, Ivan Suhivanov, Rosen Drumev, Roza Boyanova and many others. In these translations, the professional writer and translator does his best to preserve the spirit of an author, expressing his original stylistics with the specific linguistic and literary techniques of French language. An important part and episode of his popularizing efforts is his cooperation with the French magazine named „Revue Periodique”, published in Paris under the editorship of Yulia Krusteva-a French intellectual of Bulgarian origin. In it, besides the translations of humorous stories and poetry, Marashki publishes also articles full of, related to and presenting literary criticism on the literary output and creativity of Bulgarian writers. The main criterion for the selection of these authors is artistic value of their works, not their membership in an union, a political party or another organization. This activity is completely gratuitous and it is Marashki’s present for Bulgarian culture. In reality, the popularization of Bulgarian literature is a long-established and long-existing earmark in the creative behavior of Stanislav Marashki, which sharply distinguishes him from the usual for a creator “laboratory environment”, leading to strong engrossment into own creativity. As an editor of more than twenty books, Marashki has furthered the career of many young creators and the subsequent promotions, organized by him, usually turn into musical performances of great artistic and literary value, reflected completely and without editorial interference, being broadcast in Bourgas television channels. Among them are the promotional events of the book entitled: „Routes” written by the Swiss poetess Catherine Emery, translated into Bulgarian by Stanislav Marashki and presented in Sliven town, Bourgas City and Sofia City, of the novel written in French language and entitled: „The Land Weeps”(written by the French intellectual of Bulgarian origin Nikolay Levkov, a former director of Radio France Internationale), on the 10th anniversary/jubilee of the ”Revue Periodique” Magazine and many others. As a literary critic, Marashki illuminates the most hidden aspects of the creativity and literary output of famous Bulgarian poets and writers like Boris Arnaudov, Vessel Tsankov, Jeliaz Kondev, Yotko Kademov, Bozhidara Tsekova, Krasya Tityanova, Violeta Stanislavova, Roza Maximova, Irina Alexandrova, Vladimir Lukov, Mariana Kademova, Diana Dimich, Toncho Karabulkov, Atanas Radoynov, Harita Koleva, Dimitar Atanasov, Emilia Nikolova, Rosalia Lefedjiyska, Rumen Denev and others. Acting in his capacity of a translator and a Francophone, Marashki cast in long-lastingly his creative lot with the Swiss poetess Catherine Emery, which has led to the the translation of two of her books of poetry:”Routes”,„Time does not Stop” and “The Power of Words“, but the latter book is even trilingual/in French, Bulgarian and Russian/. In this way, Marashki completes the construction of bridges between the Bulgarian and the Francophone literature, as he started building such bridges between the two cultures with the translation of Bulgarian poets and writers into French. We must also pay special attention on the popularizing trend in his creative life, mentioning his work as a deputy chairman of Bourgas Club for Humor and Satire named “Sea Urchins”, that has become famous in the whole country also with the participation of his deputy chairman-Francophone. As such, he took decisive participation in the organization of a series of events of the club named „Sea Urchins”, among which we should mention the 16th anniversary since the foundation of the club under review, dramatized versions by texts of the club members, performed by professional actors, activity for the admission of new members and others. Remaining loyal to his humorous disposition and also to the spirit of his Bourgas City, Stanislav Marashki published most of his feuilletons in the press of Bourgas. For many consecutive years, Bourgas readers have been waiting with great curiosity and interest the latest Friday issue of the „Black Sea Lighthouse” newspaper, in order to read the topical anecdote written by Marashki, illustrated by the talented hand of arch. Constantine Kotsev. Not lesser curiosity arouses also the humorous page of „Bourgas Today and Tomorrow” newspaper, well-known as „Literary Concert” and drawn up by Marashki, on which together with Bourgas authors of funny stories Stanislav Marashki also popularizes humorists from our whole country. In 2013, all texts from the 39th edition of the “Golden Blackbird” Festival for humorous and satirical songs were published on it, which prolonged the life of the “Blackbird” in a unique and original way, increasing more and more the number of its fans. This interest in the festival staged by the Bulgarian National Radio and “Aleko Konstantinov” State Satirical Theater is not casual at all: songs, whose texts are written by Stanislav Marashki, are played and can be heard regularly on this most-loved theatrical stage in Bulgaria. Among them are „Feeling of History” /whose music is composed by Yonko Popov, performer Vesselin Mezekliev/, „Centipede in Trouble”/by music of Teodosi Spasov, performer Alexander Shterev/Checho//, „Warm care”/by music of Angel Dobrev, performer Vassil Popov/, „With bread and salt”/music composed by Evgeni Platov, performer Joseph Shamli/, „Knees”/by music of Christian Boyadzhiev, performer Plamen Sirakov/, „Casulaties in Vain”/music composed by Mihail Shishkov, performer Vesselin Mezekliev/, „Travels”/music composed by Mihail Shishkov, performer Vesselin Mezekliev/ and others. In some of these songs of his, Marashki elevates above ordinary presentation of daily life, whose victim the Bulgarian satire often becomes, thus reincarnating his idea of humor, taken alone as an aesthetic category, worthy of artistic realization. Such are „Feeling of History”, „Centipede in Trouble”, „Knees” and „Travels”. The song entitled „Concept of Pictorial Framework“, produced by doctor Tsonka Ivanova and created by the music of Zapari Chernev and the text of Stanislav Marashki must be added to this noteworthy series, too. In other literary works, among which „Victims in Vain” and „Warm Care”, Marashki demonstrates quick and hyperactive reflexes, thus continuing the best traditions in the Bulgarian satire. The versatile creator and writer is the laureate of many coveted literary prizes in opposite literary genres, but the prizes awarded and given for humor and satire prevail among them. Among them are the prize from the First National Literary Competition named after the poet Hristo Fotev/with the poem entitled: „In the Comfort of Tranquil Wallpapers/, the special prize of ”Thirst” Publishing House in the competition entitled:„More Verses about Eternal Matters”/with the poem entitled:„Man’s Role”/, third prize from the First National Literary Competition entitled: „Before the Altar of Free Speech”/for the story entitled:„House of Tacks”/, third prize from the competition for humor and satire named:„Haskovski Melon”/for the poem entitled:„With Bread and Salt”/, Second prize from the poetic competition entitled: „Svishtov town trellis vines”/for the poem:„What are you?”/, second prize from the competition for poetical autobiography on the occasion of the Day of Poetry in Bourgas City/with the poem entitled: „Lesson learned from daily life”/, Second prize at the competition for humor and satire held in Kubrat/with the story„The person applying to become a student”/, third prize from the competition for humor and satire held in Kubrat /with the story entitled: „One Step from Hades”/, the special prize of the Bulgarian National Radio given at the competition for humor and satire in Kubrat/for the story entitled: „Honorary Citizen”/, the special prize of the Bulgarian National Radio given at the competition for humor and satire in Kubrat/for the story entitled:„Thracians”/, a bonus given at the competition for humor and satire held in Kubrat /for the story entitled:„Victims in Vain”/, second prize for prose given at the competition entitled:„We, all are Children of the Mother Earth”/for the story entitled: „The Short Way of the Hope”/, first prize at the competition entitled:„We, all are Children of the Mother Earth”/for the essay entitled: „Hot Summer of Harvest-gathering”/,first prize at the competition entitled:„We, all are Children of the Mother Earth”/for the story entitled: „Again about Paysii”/,first prize at the competition entitled:„We, all are Children of the Mother Earth”//for the story entitled:”Beast”/, the prize of the Bulgarian National Radio in the form of a pecuniary premium given at the competition entitled:„The Big House of Funny People” in Assenovgrad/for the story entitled: „Composition about Literature”/, second prize for poetry/ at the competition for adolescent/teen poetry of the Youths’ Home-Yambol/given for a cycle of poems/, the prize named:„People’s Educators” of the Union of Free Writers in Bulgaria/for the book entitled:„Book in the form of Rectangle”/, first prize given at the competition entitled:„The Tree of Life”/for the story entitled:„Galileo Galilei from Kavarna”, first prize for humorous poetry at the first county humorous competition organized by the “Sea Urchins” Club -Bourgas, first prize for lyrics at the fifteenth edition of the competition entitled: „Love is Intoxication or Intoxication by Love“ in Silistra, first prize for the story: „The Numbers of the Lottery“ at the thirteenth edition of the competition entitled: „We, all are Children of the Mother Earth”, third prize for the story entitled: „The Second Man’s Heart“ given at the second edition of the competition for stories named Atanas Lipchev in Varna and others. In the awarded competition works, the above-named creator and author deals most of all with universal problems, conveyed with the means and techniques of humor and lyric poetry. As far as the awarded literary works are concerned, the stories “Beast” and “Again about Paysii” stand out with special artistic and literary force and effect, as in them the author elevates himself above the concrete daily life of heroes, characters and events, in order to write truths, which exceed the national views and the daily-life outlook.
As a secretary of the Union of Free Writers in Bulgaria for many consecutive years, Stanislav Marashki has been working diligently for the cause of pluralism and decentralization in Bulgarian literary life. His tireless trips to different Bulgarian cities in which the Union members stimulate writers in their creative statement of intention and will. These actions, despite being steps taken within the Union, create a favorable creative climate and environment on a national scale, whereas they strengthen one of the most influential writers’ unions in our home country. On the other hand, his ideas in Bourgas Council of writers-experts often change the trends and create new models of a literary life. Indisputably, however, the apogee of his organizational activity in service of our society is the national literary competition entitled:„The Big Book of the Small Town”, within the framework of which as a jury chairman Stanislav Marashki discovered and furthered the career of many talented Bulgarian creators.
In the eve of 24th May 2014, Stanislav Marashki was awarded with the honorary sign named “Golden Century” – the seal of king Simeon for his contribution to the development of Bulgarian culture.
Marashki is the main idea generator of the Confederation of Bulgarian Writers, founded on 9th April 2015 in Bourgas City and its first chairman. The stories and tales of Marashki have been translated into French and Russian language and published in “Revue Periodique” magazine, in the newspapers „Русская газета/Russian Gazette” and „Комсомольская правда/Youth Verity”. Some of the pieces of video information about Marashki are stored on the website about free video exchange YOU TUBЕ in his channel „About Culture with Stanislav Marashki”.
